Description

Economic units primarily engaged in activities related to the cultivation of plant species grown on land, properties, plots, yards, or other parts of dwellings, orchards, greenhouses, and other protected agricultural structures—using genetically modified, organic, or other types of crops—for the purpose of obtaining food for human and animal consumption, as well as supplying raw materials to industry and producing ornamental plants. This includes economic units that combine agricultural activities with animal husbandry when it is impossible to determine the primary activity; economic units that combine agricultural activities with forestry when it is impossible to determine the primary activity; and economic units that combine agricultural activities, animal husbandry, and forestry when it is impossible to determine the primary activity. Economic units that carry out the planting, cultivation, and processing of agricultural products in an integrated manner are also classified in this subsector.
