Description
This sector comprises economic units primarily engaged in the planting, cultivation, and harvesting of plant species; the raising and exploitation of animals in controlled environments; the care, use, and collection of forest resources; fishing, hunting, and trapping of animals; and related support activities, including cotton processing. Characterized by the use of plant and animal species, this sector differs from others due to the biological nature of its production and its direct dependence on climate, soil, and water conditions in many of its activities, as well as the specific characteristics of its production structure. Production processes vary depending on the plant or animal species involved; they encompass one or more of the following stages: cultivation, raising, and exploitation, or cutting and harvesting of the species, up to the point of sale of the product at the farm gate.
