Description

This sector comprises four subsectors with very different production processes, which, due to their characteristics, did not fit into any other sector of the classification. The Repair and Maintenance Services subsector groups economic units dedicated to repair and maintenance, categorizing them based on their production processes—that is, according to the type of repair or maintenance they perform, the skills and knowledge required to provide these services, and the procedures carried out in the different repair and maintenance economic units. The Personal Services subsector includes economic units dedicated to personal care and the care (other than repair and maintenance) of personal effects and articles. The sub-branches were defined based on the type of facilities and specialized knowledge required for the operation of the economic units. The last sub-branch, Other Personal Services, is residual and therefore includes a wide variety of personal services that, although they differ from one another, are of little economic importance, not justifying the creation of separate categories. In Associations and Organizations, the third subsector, the activities carried out by economic units support (promote, represent, and defend) the interests of various groups. The specific interests of each group formed the basis for defining the seven sub-branches included here. The way associations and organizations generate income differs from that of most other subsectors, as it is through a non-refundable registration fee or periodic membership dues. The purpose of these associations is generally not for profit. The Households with Domestic Employees subsector comprises a single branch, with a single sub-branch and a single class of economic activity, corresponding to the activity of households as employers of personnel who, in exchange for remuneration, perform domestic work, such as cooks, butlers, and domestic workers.
